Oppo will find topping the Find X in design, innovation or spec terms difficult. Not many can buy that phone though. Many would call it a sheer waste of money. Some would want it but wouldn’t be able to afford it. For the latter ones, Oppo has come out with another smartphone. This device is quite cheaper than Find X and prioritizes usability over gimmicks and innovation. This smartphone is called the Oppo F9 Pro. What does the F9 Pro bring to the table? Is it worth a buyer’s time and consideration?

What’s new about the Oppo F9 Pro?
The Oppo F9 Pro is a premium smartphone (a fact conveyed by its price tag). It is also a phone that has a notched display up front. This notch up top is accompanied by a small chin at the bottom of the phone’s display. Going by the phone’s photos, it looks to be made of glass and metal, the latter being of high-sheen variety. The back panel of the phone has a petal-shaped pattern finish. Design wise, this phone does look quite premium.
A few bits on the Oppo F9 Pro stand out and may not be to everyone’s liking. The brushed metal accents around the rear-mounted fingerprint reader and the rear camera setup stand out awkwardly. Those high-sheen metal rails do not look like they will stand up to daily abuse and may probably start showing wear within a few days of use.
This phone packs a 2.0GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 chip with Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. It gets 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage space (expandable up to 256GB with a microSD card). It packs a TFT display that measures 6.3 inches across and has Full HD+ (2340x1080p) resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo skinned with Oppo’s ColorOS 5.2 UI. The phone gets a dual rear-camera setup with a 16-megapixel primary lens (f/1.8 aperture) and a 2-megapixel secondary lens (f/2.4 aperture) with LED flash support.
The front camera gets a 25-megapixel lens with f/2.0 aperture. Connectivity options on the phone include 4G, dual-SIM, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, 3.5mm headphone jack, and USB OTG. A 3500mAh battery powers the phone and it has Oppo’s VOOC Flash Charging support. It measures 156.7mm x 74mm x 7.99mm and weighs 169 grams. The Oppo F9 Pro is available in three colour options – Starry Purple, Twilight Blue, and Sunrise Red.
Is the Oppo F9 Pro worth consideration?
The Oppo F9 Pro is worth consideration. Its price tag and spec sheet make it worth buyers’ consideration. A bigger reason to consider this phone is the one-time free screen replacement offer bundled with it. This isn’t the only offer to avail with this phone’s purchase. One can see more offers bundled with the phone on Flipkart, the exclusive online retailer for this phone.
The Oppo F9 Pro isn’t a ground-breaking phone by any measure. However, it doesn’t burn a deep hole in a buyer’s pocket either. In the end, this phone’s claim to fame is value-for-money (a theme for most of its rivals too). The F9 Pro does exceedingly well in conveying its value-for-money quotient (it goes about it in a confusing way though). Coupled with its good looks and decent specs, the F9 Pro is definitely worth considering.
