Nokia returned to the Indian market in 2017 amid much fanfare. The brand hoped to regain the popularity it had lost since its time under Microsoft’s umbrella. To that end, it even revealed the classic 3310 feature phone in the country. However, it realized the market had moved forward. This made it launch the Nokia 3, 5, 6, and 7 smartphones in the country. Nokia 8’s launch followed these smartphones and the phone took its place at the top of the company’s smartphone lineup. However, it was not enough for Nokia. Now, at MWC 2018 in Barcelona, the company has revealed a different Nokia 8 and it is called Nokia 8 Sirocco. This phone has been priced at Rs 49,999 in India. What is this phone all about? Will it help Nokia in its goal of regaining mass popularity?

Nokia has covered 95 per cent of this phone’s body with glass. The phone has its fingerprint scanner on the back. All in all, not only does this phone have all the features a buyer would need in a phone today, it also looks as good as arguably the best-looking device to have come out in the recent times (that being the Samsung Galaxy S8, and now the Galaxy S9).

The Nokia 8 Sirocco has ditched the 3.5mm headphone jack and buyers will get a USB-to-3.5mm adapter in the box (bummer!). It uses a pOLED panel, which was made popular by LG G-Flex range of smartphones. The Android One program ensures that this phone is among the first ones to get the latest Android software updates and security patches as and when they arrive.

The Nokia 8 Sirocco is a nice mix of great hardware and sexy looks in one device. As a result, its price tag of Rs 49,999 does not seem exorbitant but rather fitting for a flagship smartphone.
